Our brains are wired to make sense of new information by comparing it to what we already know. Therefore, when we encounter new people or situations, our brains automatically draw upon our past experiences to help us form opinions and judgments. When we judge someone based on our past experiences, we are essentially using those experiences as a reference point to make sense of the new person we are encountering.
